Rethink Your Medical Imaging Data Management Strategy at RSNA 2017

Posted 11/27/2017 by Monty Zarrouk

Medical imaging management has changed dramatically over the last few years, and with the healthcare industry looking at precision medicine and machine learning to drive patient care quality even further, we expect that evolution to continue at a significant pace.

With this in mind, Commvault recently surveyed more than 70 members of CHIME (College of Healthcare Information Management Executives) to learn more about the current state of medical image management. The results shed new light on where the industry stands regarding PACS implementation and VNA adoption.

One of the most notable findings from the survey: an overwhelming majority 86 percent of the CIOs surveyed agreed with the importance of having a consolidated data management strategy, regardless of the maturity of their medical image management strategy. These respondents agreed it is important to consolidate the management of clinical, revenue cycle management and business information into a single platform.

Commvault embraces the vision of a single enterprise data management platform – one that includes medical images - and we offer a solution to make this vison a reality for healthcare providers. Together with our strategic partner Laitek, we will be at RSNA 2017, booth No. 7561. We'll be talking to global healthcare professionals about how to address the unique challenges faced by healthcare systems seeking enterprise-wide deployments of data management systems that provide secure, PACS-neutral data and long-term accessibility free from vendor dependence.

By bringing all of your medical imaging and related data into one archiving platform, you can:

  • Enable easier access by clinicians to data created across disparate PACS systems
  • Eliminate the cost and complexity of managing, maintaining and upgrading multiple archive silos
  • Preserve access to archived studies to inform treatment plans and meet data-retention policies
  • Promote a standards-based approach to archiving and interoperability for DICOM and non-DICOM data
  • Simplify image enablement for your electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Decommission legacy PACS solutions to reduce administrative and maintenance costs
